  1. The part I enjoyed most about this article was how it talked a little about the strategy that the company took when approaching giving out coupons for free bagels on Facebook. They mentioned how last year when KFC promoted their new grilled chicken in this manner, by using social media, they were over run and flooded with people with coupons for free food and they ran out of product. The Einstein Bros. learned for KFC’s experience and when the coupons are generated the dates that they are eligible for a free “bagel and shmear” are staggered. This will eliminate the rush of customers on one day and the possibilities of running up short of products will be greatly lessened. This article is also yet another great example of how social media helps restaurants in customer establishment relationships and advertising.

  2. The idea that Einstein bagels had was a genius one. To give away free bagels in order to gain a new age of customers is a risky move but so far it has seen to pay off in the end. But by doing so they grew from just over 4,000 fans on Facebook on a Monday to over 300,000 fans by that Wednesday. The growth was staggering, and it has thus thrusted the bagel giants sales into the green. Although taking a hit from the intial promotion the patrons that came out became fans and loyal customers.
    Social media is the new king of advertising, and the best apart it is that it is practically free!

  3. I must say that this was a great success for Einstein. Not only was the advertising a great factor, but the fact that they planned for this event says enough. Using facebook was a great idea seeing that they were able to build an even bigger fan base and also when the coupons were redeemed I am sure they gave them a golden experience so they would become loyal customers.
