This aritcle social media technologies will create a new societal and business paradigm despite concerns in the executive suite over corporate intellectual property and employee productivity.
While marketing and branding executives have eagerly embraced the use of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, the current tide of opinion among many c-level decision makers, including chief information officers, is that of skeptical awareness.

Nigel Fenwick is the vice president and principal analyst for Forrester Research Incorporated. He believes that social media has no limitations and will have an enormous impact on businesses. I completely agree with Fenwick but was surprised to read that other high-level executives do not feel the same way. This article discusses how some executives are “skeptical” of social medias impact on business. I feel that those companies who fail to participate in social media efforts will fall behind competition that does take advantage of this developing trend. I think that this is a trend that will continue to develop more and more with time. Like most aspects of business, it is important to stay current and develop accordingly. Due to the growing popularity in social media, we may even begin to see a decrease in conventional advertizing in news papers and magazines. Why pay for expensive advertizing when you can promote your companies name for close to nothing?
ReplyDeleteThe article at one point mentions that some people believe that use of social media for businesses is going to dry up eventually, but Nigel Fenwick, VP of Forrester Research Inc. thinks the exact opposite. Social media is an endless span of word of mouth and advertising for businesses across the world. It seems that both Josh and Jwon agree the popularity of social media is only going to grow.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Josh, Jwon, and Justin. Social media in my eyes can only expand. I highly doubt that social media will die out because it's more of a one on one contact way of marketing. It helps companies see their weak points "right now" versus months later and for that reason alone social media will not die out.
