SNA Releases 2010 Legislative Issues Paper

I thought the article was short and to the point. It did not waste the readers time, which is always plus. The School Nutrition Association is a company that I had no idea existed. It helps meals provided by schools to become more nutritional and healthy for the children eating them. I took notice to nutrition in schools when I graduated high school when practically all junk food and soda vending machines were removed.

This topic is not something to take lightly. The well being of our children is most important, they are truly the future of the country. My generation was filled with healthy and unhealthy young adults, I myself for a good portion was one them. The next wave of kids have the chance to start and continue to be healthy. This would help bring down the rate of strokes, heart attacks, and diabetes simply by establishing a healthy eating regimend for them.

Most times the reason children break the habit of eating healthy is because they are given a much larger out pour of options at school to sink their teeth into. By limiting the choices you are guiding the children down a path to serenity and not obesity. I can onyl hope that the money given by the government will be put to use in a good way to make this program be a success.

  1. I agree with Justin’s opinion on the article “SNA Releases 2010 Legislative Issues.” With obesity growing and becoming a larger problem in children in the United States, healthy choices for school meals need to be available. By giving children the guidance in school to choose healthier foods, habits will hopefully form and continue to follow them outside of school helping to better their health. As Justin stated this is a much easier change and adjustment for children and young teens verses adults who are stuck in their routines and set ways.
I also agree that with the articles thoughts on widening the programs for providing meals for children who’s families cannot afford to provide their children with lunch or even breakfast. To think that some children go off to school with no breakfast and do not even have a lunch to eat and maybe do not even know when their next meal is coming is a horrifying thought. Being able to have more programs that help feed these children of America will be a plus, so I definitely agree with what the article was telling the reader regarding these issues in congress.

  2. I agree with Justin's and Joshua's opinion on the article. Children is very important every countries so children should provided safe, healthy meals through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. When I was child, my school provided lunch and my mom like it. Because she trust the school lunch programs and she didn't have to worry aobut my lunch. So I think if shcool provided safe and healty meals to children, it will be good for the partents.

  3. I agree healthy eating is something which schools should be trying to implement in their cafeteria. Seeing that children spend half of their entire day at school it only makes sense that they are provided healthy meals which increase their energy. Obesity is a huge problem with young children these days and although a school provides them healthy food I firmly believe the habits start at Home! If the parents are willing to help there is not much the schools can do.

I also believe that it is about time the "free" meal program is trying to help out more families. One thing I always noticed is if your parents made a certain amount of money they would not provide the student with a Free Meal. What I did not understand was just because your parents make a certain amount of money does not mean they can afford to give you money for lunch everyday.
